The NetApp E5600 arrays are designed to utilise Flash optimisations of the EF560 in hybrid configurations using both solid-state drives and conventional disk drives. The E5600 is now the top of the range product in the E-Series range and offers a mix of flash and disk to provide cost-effective performance for more capacity-intensive applications such as email, SharePoint, HPC, OLAP, data warehouse and video. NetApp claim that new E5600 storage system will greatly improve application performance with up to 650,000 IOPS and will satisfy bandwidth-intensive applications through multiple 12GB/s back-end connections. There are three models available that include the E5612 (72TB), E5624 (43TB) and the E5660 that features a maximum raw capacity of 360TB (2.3PB with expansion shelves).
The E5600 series runs on NetApp SANtricity 8.20 Software that offers extensive configuration flexibility and custom performance tuning, online administration and simplifies storage management through easy-to-use intuitive interface with wizards. The SANtricity OS provides state-of-the-art RAID, proactive monitoring, enhanced Snapshot copies and data-at-rest encryption.
